Consumers are becoming increasingly aware about green and ethical issues and many are choosing to make their investments work not just for their own benefit, but for others and the environment. According to Ethical Investment Research Services, approximately £8 billion was invested in UK ethical funds by the end of 2007.

Penny Shepherd has been Chief Executive of the UK Social Investment Forum (UKSIF), the membership network for sustainable and responsible finance, since May 2005. She is a member of the Board for Actuarial Standards and Professional Oversight Board's Stakeholder Interests Working Group and an adviser to London Remade, the capital's recycling organisation, and to London 21, its community-based network for sustainable development. |

Nicola Day joined Rathbone Greenbank Investments as an investment director in 2006 from Gerrard where she specialised in ethical investment. She has a BSc (Hons) in economics and an MSc in corporate governance and ethics. She is also a Fellow of the Securities Institute. |

Melanie Blackmore of Standards International
Melanie Blackmore is a founder and Director of Standards International, the UK’s certification body for the international quality standard for financial planners, ISO 22222. Melanie has been involved with working on the first ISO 22222 pilot scheme in the UK since 2006 when the standard was first launched. |
